Being Marketing Positive

April 21st, 2009 | Tags: , ,

It has been a month since our last post which we feel slightly guilty about due to the momentum we had built up on the blog but there is a reason for it and that is because we have been marketing positive.

Back in January and February we could feel ourselves being sucked into all the recession doom and gloom and for a short time we began thinking negatively. What if we didn’t win any more clients, marketing departments were slashing budgets and small businesses wouldn’t have any budget to use our services. We almost talked ourselves out of business, until we realised driving back from a really good marketing workshop, that we were the only ones that were predicting a disastrous end to our business.

So we decided to think marketing positive, not in a MacDonald’s “Have a nice day” false positive kind of way, but in a “we are good at marketing and we can help hundreds of businesses make their marketing more effective” kind of way.

So we pulled oursleves up by our bootstraps and began to focus on the type of clients we wanted to work with, the marketing services we could offer them and generally believe in ourselves and our expertise. We made sure that we attended networking events, sent out emails and generally powered up our marketing. And a funny thing started to happen, we started to win more business,  and we began to get more opportunities - all in a so called recession when no one was spending money on marketing.

At first we thought it was all a bit woo woo, and that the Law of Attraction from the Secret book really did work. Perhaps it did, but in reality we focused on what we wanted, put some effort in and got more of what we asked for. Quite simple really, so we would urge you to think Marketing Positive, don’t talk yourself into a marketing depression. Focus on what you want and undertake the marketing to help you get there.

So to go back to the beginning of the blog post, the main reason that there have been so few blogs for the last month is because we have been busy delivering services for clients. However, since we realise that the blog is also an important marketing tool for us, we are now making the effort to ensure that there are regular posts.

So you will be hearing from us again soon…. Have a nice day now :-)
